Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School
Located in the heart of Bangkok on Sukhumvit road, Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary school is a well-established British International school, which has been operating for more than 20 years. In November 2021, the two new purpose-built additions for the primary school were constructed adjacent to the existing secondary campus.
Xypex Thailand were specified by the main contractor and our systems were used throughout the project of new buildings. This included the basements, 25-metres swimming pool, potable water and wastewater tanks, together with sump pits, electrical pits, and tree planters in the green space of the school.
Xypex Concentrate coating system was selected and applied to over 4,800 m2 of the above concrete structures. Following the main application, the curing process was carried out using Xypex Gamma Cure to ensure that the coated areas were properly cured and completed within the construction timelines.
In addition, over 1,000 metres of concrete joints were also waterproofed with Corkjoint Superswell 47B, coupled with Xypex Concentrate as part of the construction process, to ensure the watertightness of concrete structures.
Using Xypex Crystalline technology, the schools’ new assets were completely protected against aggressive chemical attack, including chlorides, from the pool purification system and sulphates, which are present in the wastewater tanks. Additional benefits were achieving compliance with NSF61 and AS/NZS 4020:2018 standards for non-toxic and safe for use within potable water structures. These benefits enhanced protection to concrete structures and extended the service life of these two new buildings for generations to come.
