Central Phuket Aquarium
The largest aquarium in Thailand, “Aquaria Phuket” located in Central Phuket Floresta, covers nearly 10,000m2 and was developed by Aquawalk Group before being launched in August 2019.
Originally, an ‘alternative’ waterproofing system was installed in the aquarium but unfortunately, its performance was poor, and the system suffered many failures. Leaking points were found and became a serious concern to the Asset owner.
Having successfully used Xypex products in many projects, Central called for Xypex Thailand to engage and provide remedial solution for the leaking issues, which had occurred in the underground aquarium together with other areas. Initially, repairs were carried out using around 250 kg of Xypex repair products. Following these repairs, our Xypex Concentrate coating system was specified to treat over 4,000 m2 of aquarium floors and corridors. After coating, Xypex Gamma Cure was used on the treated areas, ensuring the curing process was completed efficiently and with no impact to the time schedule.
Xypex Thailand Crystalline solution successfully remediated the structures of this newly built aquarium, whilst providing several additional advantages; including waterproofing benefits, self-healing crack capabilities, and enhancing the sustainability of the structures; which fulfilled the Asset’s owner requirements.
