Ikea Bangna – Extension of Car Park

The extension of the car park project at Ikea Bangna required a watertight, durable and sustainable structure. To meet these objectives, Ikea’s overseas headquarters specified that Xypex Crystalline Technology was the best solution for this project.

Working alongside the main contractor, with previous experience using Xypex solutions, Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was selected and added to the concrete mix at time of batching to allow full dispersion of the Xypex technology within the concrete matrix. This ensures the concrete is protected from chemical attacks such as carbonation, sulfates and chlorides, whilst also providing the necessary waterproofing as specified. Around 7,000 m3 pf the structure was treated, including roof slabs and all concrete areas exposed to the ground and sub-soils. Additionally, over 1,200 metres of construction joints were treated and sealed with Superswell 47B, coupled with Xypex Concentrate coating.

The Xypex systems used ensure the long-term service life and durability of the treated areas, as required by the Asset Owner.
