MSW Krabi Power Plant
Xypex Thailand was proud to be the provider of the concrete waterproofing solutions for the MSW Krabi Power Plant project. The owners are an electricity and steam generation/distribution business working toward the goal of a “clean energy” power plant.
Among the many challenges with this project, being surrounded with the ‘marine like’ environment, which is prevalent in Southern Thailand, together with the chemicals from municipal solid waste in the plant, created a requirement for a specialised system to provide sufficient protection and durability for the structures. Xypex’s crystalline products were able to meet those needs, protecting the concrete tanks from chloride and chemical attack, which are major factors, leading to significant deterioration, over time.
After rectifying the concrete honetcomb defects with Xypex Patch’n Plug and Xypex Megamix II, Xypex Concentrate coating system was specified to trate the 5 metre-high underground wallas of the waste tank, covering an area of more than 600 m2. Following the coating, the treated areas were cured with Xypex Gamma Cure, to ensure the curing process was carried our effieciently and with no time delays.
Several benefits of our Xypex solutions have remediated and protected teh concrete structures, allowing the increased durability and service life as required and specified by the Asset Owner.

After the concrete honeycomb defects were repaired using Xypex Patch’n Plug and Xypex Megamix II, the Xypex Concentrate coating system was specified to treat the five-metre-high underground walls of the waste tank, covering an area of more than 600 m². Following application of the coating, the treated areas were cured using Xypex Gamma Cure to ensure that the curing process was completed efficiently and without delays.
