O-NES Tower
One of the leading construction companies in Thailand, Thai Obayashi, created a prestigious new head office building located in a busy area of Bangkok. Having worked closely with this company for many years, Xypex Thailand were proud to be appointed as the Crystalline waterproofing provider to deliver the required sustainable and permanent solution on this skyscraper project.
Xypex Crystalline Technology products were specified throughout the whole structure; the D-wall, underground car parks, kitchens, restrooms, water tanks and the landscaped areas in front of the tower. Our Xypex Concentrate coating system was applied to over 14,500 m2 and cured with Xypex Gamma Cure, ensuring an efficient curing process and avoiding delays to the construction schedule.
An added benefit of this protection system is product certifications to Australian Standard AS/NZS 4020 and American Standard NSF61, which confirms the system is non-toxic and safe for use with potable water storage tanks. This is relevant to the environmental focus of the Asset’s owner and the required gold LEED and WELL certificates of this property.
Additionally, several Xypex benefits ensure the whole structure was fully protected from any potential leaks, and in particular from carbonation attack in the underground parking lots. The carbon dioxide emitted from vehicles in the highly humid conditions is the main factor that reduces the alkalinity of concrete, which can lead to corrosion of the reinforcing steel. Through the use of Xypex Crystalline products the structures have been protected from concrete deterioration, thus enhancing the durability and long service life of the Tower.
Further to the coating system, around 5,300 kg of Xypex Admix C-1000NF was added to concrete at the time of batching in the roof decks and wastewater treatment and retention tanks. This meant that the construction schedule wasn’t impacted, and allowed for cost reductions on the project. In addition, over 6,700 metres of construction joints were made watertight using Superswell 47B, coupled with Xypex Concentrate, as an integral part of the construction process, to enhance the waterproofing benefits of our other systems.
Xypex waterproofing solutions have successfully protected all the concrete structures of this elegant tower, thus extending the service-life and enhancing the durability as specified in the design concept of the Asset owner.
