A leading manufacturer of garments in Thailand, Thai Garment Export factory has been established for over 50 years. After several years of service, its facilities began to deteriorate and leakages in the wastewater treatment tank became a significant concern. The tank typically contained chemical water with a pH range of 4-7 in constant contact with the concrete, exposing the structure to deterioration and compromising the existing waterproofing systems.

Having previously experienced favourable outcomes using Xypex solutions and systems in earlier repair projects, the factory’s engineering team appointed Xypex Thailand to address the issue and carry out repairs to the deteriorated concrete.

Over 17,400 kg of Xypex Megamix II was used to remediate the concrete surface and prepare the substrate for the main waterproofing application. Following these repairs, Xypex Concentrate was applied to over 1,000 m2 of the tank structure. The curing process was completed using Xypex Gamma Cure, ensuring minimal downtime and a quick return to service.

This project has leveraged key benefits of Xypex systems, including the formation of crystalline structures within the concrete substrates, which makes the concrete impermeable. The system also provides self-healing capabilities for cracks up to 0.5 mm wide and protection against chemical attacks which present in the wastewater tanks. Using Xypex solutions, the durability and longevity of the tank structure have been significantly enhanced, while simultaneously waterproofing the structure as set out by the factory owner.
